REPORT ON DEBATE

            The Department of Commerce CA & CS of Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous), Perambalur organized a debate titled “ Social Media: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly”   for the  students of  B. Com CA and B. Com CS  on 13^th  September, 2024  at 10.30 am in the AVE Hall through CACSTA Club.  Dr. K. Anitha and Ms. G. Sathya handled the debate session for the students. The debate on "Social Media  highlighted the dual nature of social media's impact on society. On one hand, social media offers unparalleled opportunities for communication, information sharing, business growth, and community support. On the other hand, it poses serious risks related to mental health, misinformation, privacy, and productivity. The outcome of the debate underscored the need for a balanced approach to social media use, advocating for responsible consumption, stronger regulations, and enhanced digital literacy to maximize its benefits while minimizing its harms. As social media continues to evolve, ongoing discussions and evaluations of its impact will be crucial in shaping its role in society.  12 students were participated in the debate and more than 100 students were participated in the programme as audience. The programme was inaugurated and by the Founder-Chairman Dr. K. Varadharaajen, Roever Group of Institutions, Perambalur; presided and felicitated  by the Principal Incharge Dr. S. Sivakumar.  V. Kesavan – [President - CACSTA Club]-  from III B. Com CA delivered the Welcome address. The programme ended at 12.30 pm with Vote of thanks delivered by N. Asrath Ali [Secretary  - CACSTA Club] from II B. Com CA.
