Department of Computer Applications organizes a Seminar on "Navigating the IT Industry" and Workshop on " Practical Insights into UI/UX Design". Date: 30/09/2024 (FN) Event: Seminar Title: Navigating the IT Industry: Development & Opportunities Resource Persons: Mr. Selvam C,CEO, Trirope Pvt Ltd,Chennai Mr. Rajaram R Technical Project Manager, Ippo Pay Tech.Chennai On 30th September 2024, the Department of Computer Applications at Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous) organized a one-day seminar at the AVE Hall. The event witnessed the participation of approximately 205 students, including UG and PG students. Welcome and Felicitation The seminar began with a warm welcome address by Dr. V. Poongodi, Head of the Department of Computer Applications. Following this, Dr. S. Sivakumar, Principal i/c, delivered the felicitation address, highlighting the significance of technical education beyond conventional programming languages. He emphasized the importance of understanding various roles in the IT industry and developing skills that prepare students for a broad spectrum of opportunities. Session 1: Software Development Process and Technical Roles Selvam C, CEO of Trirope Pvt Ltd, Chennai, initiated the first session, discussing the software development life cycle and the many technical roles in the industry. He pointed out that aside from the role of a software engineer, the IT sector offers numerous other positions such as system analysts, quality assurance testers, database administrators, and network engineers, encouraging students to explore these paths. Session 2: Preparing for the IT Industry as a Fresher Graduate In the second session, Rajaram R, Technical Project Manager at Ippo Pay Tech, Chennai, and Selvam elaborated on how fresh graduates can prepare for the industry. They stressed the need to build expertise not only in programming but also in project management, business analysis, and soft skills, all of which are crucial for success. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by DEIVA PRASANTH.V and the event came to an end with the National Anthem, marking a successful and informative session for the students.
