Department of Computer Applications & Computer Science organize one day workshop on "Internet on Things". Date: 30/09/2025 Event: One day Workshop Title: Internet of Things Resource Person: Mr. Gopalakrishnan, Manager, Galwin Technology, Trichy The Department of Computer Applications and the Department of Computer Science, Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous), Perambalur, jointly organized a One Day Workshop on Internet of Things (IoT) on 30th September 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the AVE Hall. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. V. Poongodi, Head of the Department of Computer Applications, along with Dr. S. Manimaran, Dean of Science, and Dr. S. Sivakumar, Vice-Principal. The workshop commenced with the Presidential Address delivered by Dr. K. Varadharaajen, Founder and Chairman, Roever Group of Institutions, Perambalur. In his address, he emphasized the importance of IoT in shaping the future of technology and its applications in solving real-world problems. The Felicitation Address was given by Dr. K. Ravichandran, Principal, Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous), Perambalur. He motivated the students to actively engage in emerging technologies like IoT and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Mr. Gopalakrishnan, Manager, Galwin Technology, Trichy. He shared valuable insights on IoT concepts, applications, and future scope in industries. He also highlighted how IoT is transforming everyday life by connecting devices and automating processes. More than 500 students enthusiastically participated in the workshop, which was jointly organized by the Departments of Computer Applications and Computer Science. During the technical session, students witnessed an impressive live demonstration of an IoT-based safety kit developed to detect potential landslides and prevent accidents in hilly regions. The innovative device is designed to sense the presence of water and emit a beep alert, thereby providing early warning and helping to prevent incidents caused by falling stones from mountain slopes. An MOC was presented by Sowmiya S, II MCA student. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Gopinathan S, II MCA student, who expressed gratitude to the management, faculty, and participants. In his address, the Vice-Principal advised students to make the most of their time by spending 6 hours productively in college, 10 hours at home for preparation, and 8 hours for proper rest. The workshop was highly informative and hands-on, helping students understand how IoT technology can be applied in real-world scenarios to solve critical issues and innovate for a smarter future.
