REPORT ON THE NATIONAL-LEVEL WORKSHOP “Eco-Friendly Synthesis of Nanoparticles: From Laboratory Research to Biomedical Applications” on 02.09.2026 and 03.09.2026 Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous), the Postgraduate and Research Departments of Physics and Chemistry, the Research and Development Centre, and the Trichy Raman Research Foundation jointly organized a National Workshop on “Eco-Friendly Synthesis of Nanoparticles: From Laboratory Research to Biomedical Applications” on 02.09.2026 and 03.09.2026 at 10.00 a.m. at the Audio-Visual Hall of the College. The workshop was organized with the objective of promoting scientific awareness, research aptitude, innovative thinking, and academic collaboration among students, faculty members, and researchers. The programme was presided over by Dr. K. Varadarajan, Chairman, Roever Educational Group. Mr. John AsokVaradarajan, Vice-Chairman, graced the occasion and offered his support. The following eminent resource persons and special invitees participated in the programme and delivered insightful lectures: • Dr. V. Nandakumar, Principal, Department of Science and Technology, Bon Secours Women’s College, Thanjavur. • Dr. P. Ravikumar, Assistant Professor, Postgraduate and Research Department of Physics, Tagore Government Arts and Science College, Puducherry. • Dr. N. Anuradha, Controller of Examinations and Associate Professor of Physics, Bon Secours Women’s College, Thanjavur. • Dr. R. Mohan, Assistant Professor, Postgraduate and Research Department of Physics, Sri SevuganAnnamalai College, Devakottai, Tamil Nadu. DAY ONE – 02.09.2026 The first day of the programme began at 10.00 a.m. with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku. Dr. K. Ravichandran, Principal of the College, delivered the welcome address and extended a warm welcome to the special guests, award recipients, professors, faculty members and participants. The felicitation addresses were delivered by Dr. C. Sivakumar, Vice-Principal; Dr. K. Tamilmaran, Dean, Faculty of Languages; and Dr. K. Maruthathurai, Dean, Faculty of Arts. One of the major highlights of the programme was the Raman Research Foundation Awards Ceremony. The Best Science Promoter Award was presented to Mr. S. Sakthivel, Government Higher Secondary School, Kaatrampakkam, Sriperumbudur, in recognition of his contribution towards promoting science education and scientific activities. The Best Research Award was presented to Dr. R. Mohan, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Sri SevuganAnnamalai College, Devakottai, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to research. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. P. Seenivasa Kumar, Principal, Government Thirumagal Mills College, Gudiyatham, Vellore, for his long-standing and distinguished contribution to the field of education. This was followed by a book-release ceremony. Membership certificates of the Raman Research Foundation were also distributed to the members. Dr. N. Muruganandham delivered the workshop brief, highlighting the objectives, special features and academic significance of the programme. Dr. R. Chandramohan delivered the inaugural address. He emphasized the importance of developing scientific thinking, innovative research, dissemination of scientific knowledge, and fostering research interest among students and teachers. Dr. R. Mohan, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Sri SevuganAnnamalai College, Devakottai, delivered a special lecture. The session provided the participants with valuable insights and explanations on various aspects related to science and research. DAY TWO – 03.09.2026 The second day of the workshop commenced at 10.00 a.m. on 3rd September 2026 with a special lecture delivered by Dr. M. Karunakaran, Associate Professor of Physics, Alagappa Government Arts College, Karaikudi, Tamilnadu. This was followed by a technical session at 11.00 a.m., during which discussions and presentations focused on contemporary developments in science and research. The session provided participants with an opportunity to gain insights into recent advancements and emerging areas of scientific research. In the afternoon, practical experimental sessions were conducted for the students. These sessions provided hands-on exposure and helped students understand scientific concepts and laboratory-based research methodologies more effectively. The two-day National level workshop served as a valuable academic platform for faculty members, researchers and students to enhance their scientific thinking, research interest and understanding of emerging technologies. The insightful lectures delivered by the eminent resource persons enriched the participants with new knowledge, ideas and perspectives in the areas of nanotechnology, eco-friendly nanoparticle synthesis, laboratory research and biomedical applications. The programme was successfully organized with the dedicated efforts of the faculty members of the Departments of Physics and Chemistry and the members of the Research Team. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. P. Ramanathan, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, who expressed his gratitude to the management, dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, researchers, students and all the participants for their valuable support and contribution towards the successful conduct of the national level workshop.
