Cordially invite you for the inaugural function of " INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS CELL "  & A Two-Day State Level Technical Workshop on " INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS " & Celebration of Internal Msme Day-2024.   Perambalur, June 27-28, 2024 — Thanthai Hans Roever College (THRC), in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council, and the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, hosted a two-day state-level technical workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ in celebration of International MSME Day-2024. The workshop commenced at 10:30 AM on June 27, 2024, with a welcome address by Dr. S. Sivakumar, Vice-Principal of THRC. Dr.Sivakumar highlighted the significance of intellectual property rights in fostering innovation and protecting creators' rights. Dr. K. Varadharaajen, Founder and Chairman of the Roever Group of Institutions, Perambalur, was honored as the Chief Guest. In his Presidential Address, Dr.Varadharaajen, accompanied by Mr. John Ashok Varadarajan, Vice-Chairman of the Roever Group of Institutions, emphasized the role of the institution in promoting an ecosystem of innovation and intellectual property protection. Shri A. Raja, Deputy Controller of Patents & Designs Patent Office, Govt. of India, Chennai, also addressed the audience, discussing the vital role of intellectual property in driving economic growth and innovation. He encouraged participants to actively engage in the workshop to enhance their understanding of IP laws and processes. Ms. S. Gomati Padma Thilaga, Project Scientist at the Patent Information Centre, Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai, provided insights into the resources available for securing intellectual property rights and the practical aspects of patent filing. The Felicitation and Keynote Address was delivered by Thiru J. PrabhuJayakumar Moses, General Manager of the District Industries Centre, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Dept., Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Perambalur. He spoke on the significance of intellectual property for MSMEs and strategies for leveraging IP for business success. Special guest addresses were given by Shri A. Raja, who elaborated on the patent filing process and adherence to IP laws, and Mr. B. Prabaharan, District Development Manager at the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, who discussed financial support for innovators in agriculture and rural development. Further special guest addresses were delivered by Ms. S. Gomati Padma Thilaga, who focused on the practical aspects of patent filing, and Ms. Kiruthika, Additional Director of the District Industries Centre, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Dept., Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Perambalur, who spoke about the role of intellectual property in MSME growth and protection. Workshop Highlights: The two-day workshop provided participants with in-depth knowledge about the various facets of intellectual property rights, including patent filing, trademark registration, and copyright laws. Experts shared valuable insights on the legal and financial aspects of intellectual property, equipping attendees with the necessary tools to protect their innovations. The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. S. Manimaran, Dean of Science, Dr.K.Maruthadurai, Dean of Arts and Dr. N. Muruganantham, Assistant professor of Chemistry, ensuring a seamless execution of the program. The vote of thanks was given by Mr. V. Raja, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics, THRC, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their contributions.
