PG & Research Department of Biotechnology  organizes a workshop on "A Future tool for Drug Discovery".   PG & Research Department of Biotechnology has organized a one-day Workshop on “A Future tool for Drug Discovery” on 17th December 2024. Dr.K.Varadharaajen, Founder and Chairman of Roever Group of Institutions presided over the gathering. Dr. M. Keerthiga, Project Manager of Shri Life Technological Solutions, Thuraiyur, Trichy, served as the resource person. She spoke about Bioinformatics tools that are involved in designing drugs. Students were also given hands-on training on PDB usage, the molecular docking software AUTODOCK 4 tool installation, process of receptor and ligand molecule downloading, preparation and docking process for the identification of futuristic drugs and their applications. The resource person also discussed the wide range of opportunities for biotechnology in the medical sector. This workshop has enhanced student's knowledge of bioinformatics software tools. Finally, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between THRC-Department of Biotechnology and Shri Life Technological Solutions, Thuraiyur, Trichy- to formalize a partnership that aims to improve educational opportunities, advance scientific research and foster collaboration, etc Dr. S. Sivakumar, Principal i/c and Dr. S. Manimaran, Dean of Science offered felicitations. Dr. A. Rajesh, Head and Assistant Professor of Biotechnology welcomed the gathering. Dr. G. Silambarasan, Assistant Professor of Biotechnology, proposed vote of thanks.  Faculty members of the Department of Biotechnology organized the event. More than 130 students of the department have participated and benefitted through this workshop.
