PG & Research Department of Microbiology & Botany - " Open Day-2025", An Open Day for Young Minds on the Wonders of Microbes and Plants. Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous) – PG and Research Department of Microbiology & Botany-Open Day – 2025. The PG & Research Department of Microbiology and the Department of Botany, Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous), Perambalur, jointly organized Open Day – 2025, a special camp on “The Wonders of Microbes and Plants for Young Minds”, held on 10th and 11th September 2025 at the Microbiology Department Laboratory, College Campus. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Masebello Beneto, a researcher from Tokyo, South Korea, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his special address, he inspired the students by emphasizing the importance of education, women’s education and empowerment, and elaborated on the educational opportunities and schemes provided by the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. K. Varadharaajen, Founder and Chairman and Mr. John Ashok Varadharajan Vice Chairman of the Roever Group of Institutions.Dr. K. Ravichandran, Principal, Dr. S. Sivakumar, Vice-Principal and Dr. S. Manimaran, Dean  of Science extended their felicitations. Dr. R. Anburaj, Head & Coordinator, PG & Research Department of Microbiology, delivered the welcome address. Around 105 students from Hans Roever School participated in the two-day programme and gained valuable insights into the significance of microbes and the benefits of plants. As part of his motivational talk, Dr. K. Ravichandran, Principal, explained in detail about Indian scientists and their discoveries, thereby encouraging the school students. The Open Day activities included demonstrations on laboratory equipment and their applications, blood group identification, observation of bacterial and fungal morphology, and various microbiological techniques by the students and faculty of the Department of Microbiology. In addition, Dr. D. Jeevanandham, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, explained in detail about plant propagation methods. Co-Coordinator Ms. K. Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, introduced the Chief Guest, while Co-Coordinator Ms. K. Karunyavadana, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was attended by Mr. Ebinesan (Ic), Headmaster of Hans Roever School, along with teachers, faculty members, and students of the Departments of Microbiology and Botany.
