PG & Research Department of Microbiology & Environmental Club(ECO CLUB) jointly organises a guest lecture on "Green Technology for Water Treatment".   Guest Lecture on “Green Technology for Water Treatment” Organized by the Department of Microbiology and Eco Club,Thanthai Hans Rover College (Autonomous), Perambalur. On 19th August 2025, the Department of Microbiology, in collaboration with the Eco Club of Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous), Perambalur, organized a one-day awareness Program on the theme “Green Technology for Water Treatment” at the college’s Audio-Visual Hall. The event was held under the distinguished chairmanship of Dr. K. Varadharaajen, Founder & Chairman of the Roever Group of Institutions, and was attended by several notable dignitaries. The seminar was graced by the presence of Dr. K. Ravichandran, Principal of the college, Dr. S. Sivakumar, Vice-Principal, and Dr. S. Manimaran, Dean of Science, who delivered words of encouragement and motivated both students and faculty members to actively engage in eco-friendly initiatives. The chief guest and keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Krishnan Muthukumar, a Visiting Scientist at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shandong, China. In his thought-provoking address, Dr. Muthukumar stressed the critical importance of adopting sustainable water recycling practices, particularly in developing countries. He highlighted successful wastewater recycling models from across the globe and urged India to implement similar strategies. Additionally, he discussed the role of halophilic microorganisms, the biotechnological potential of seaweeds, and the ecological impact of pollution, emphasizing the urgent need for environmental protection measures. The seminar commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. R. Anburaj, Head of the Department of Microbiology. Ms. K. Priya, Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Coordinator of the Eco Club, introduced the chief guest and provided an insightful overview of his research contributions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. K. Kowsalya, Assistant Professor of Microbiology. The success of the seminar was made possible through the collective efforts of the faculty members and students of the Department of Microbiology, who coordinated the event with great dedication. This seminar served as a valuable platform to raise awareness among students and faculty about the vital role of green technologies in sustainable water purification. It inspired participants to contribute towards eco-friendly scientific solutions for the conservation of the environment.
