he Department of Commerce CA & CS successfully conducted a one-day seminar titled “Taxation in the Digital Economy: GST, Income Tax and Emerging Challenges” on August 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the A.V.E. Hall of Thanthai Hans Roever College (Autonomous), Perambalur. The event was designed to deepen students’ understanding of current developments in taxation, focusing on GST, income tax, digital transactions, compliance mechanisms, and the evolving challenges within the digital economic landscape. Dr. K. Ravichandran, Principal of the college, presided over the function as chief guest and delivered the inaugural address. He stressed the importance of equipping commerce students with hands-on knowledge and professional skills to meet the growing demands of digital-era business and tax systems. The main session was facilitated by Mr. K. Kalaiyarasan, a GST Practitioner from KK Tax Evaluation, Pennadam, Cuddalore. In his presentation, he offered practical perspectives on GST and income tax in the context of the digital economy. He covered topics such as digital compliance, online transaction reporting, GST filing procedures, income tax practices, and the difficulties faced by businesses and taxpayers. He also emphasized the need for continuous learning in tax regulations and building real-world competencies for careers in accounting, finance, and taxation. Students actively engaged during the interactive segment, where their questions were addressed with clear, practical explanations. The event began with the recitation of Tamil Thai Vaazhthu and a Bible reading by Ms. V. Kaviya, a student of I B.Com CS. Ms. Y. Prakashini, II B.Com CA, delivered the welcome address, formally greeting the guests, resource person, faculty, and attendees. Ms. Balasankari, I B.Com CA, introduced the chief guest and outlined the significance of the seminar’s theme. A total of 150 students from the Department of Commerce CA & CS participated in the seminar, gaining valuable academic and practical knowledge. The session broadened their awareness of modern tax practices and deepened their understanding of how taxation functions in today’s fast-evolving digital environment. Mr. Sri Ajaydharshan, I B.Com CA, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the Principal, the resource person, faculty, organizing team, and participants. The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
