Academics Of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1987 with undergraduate course. In this Era of ‘Knowledge Explosion’, Mathematics helps to model the problems that arise in all the other fields and helps to have a better understanding of them. Realizing this need and responsibility, the department of Mathematics trains its Young men and women to acquire Mathematical skills of global competency. The Department offers UG, PG and research programmes leading to M.Phil in mathematics with more emphasis on pure mathematics. The upgradation of the department as PG was in the year 2003. The department received its research status by offering M.Phil in the year 2013 and Ph.D in the year 2017. Apart from this the department offers certificate and diploma courses in Mathematics.
The faculties of the department are actively engaged in research activities and three faculties received Research Projects form UGC. The trust areas of the research are Graph Theory, Fuzzy Mathematics, Operations Research and Topology.


To create an impact of mathematics upon the students to enhance their career, and also to create the interest towards mathematical research.


To raise the general value of mathematical skills, scientific knowledge, technological innovation and confidence in the society.


To provide an environment where students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical application.

Programme Outcome

UG Program Outcome

Mathematical Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and mathematical specialization to the solution of analysis problems.

Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate and analyze complex problems reaching substantiated conclusion using principles of Mathematics.

PG & M.Phil. Program Outcome

Mathematical Knowledge:Apply the detailed knowledge of mathematics and various specializations to the solution of complex problems.

Modern tool usage:

  • Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and advanced Mathematical activities tools including prediction and modeling to complex mathematical activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • Use research based knowledge and research methods including mathematical experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Program specific outcome

  • Graduates will be able to apply Mathematical skills and modern Mathematical tools for Mathematical science day to day practice.
  • Graduates will be able to participate in critical thinking and problem solving ability.
  • Graduates will be able to pursue of lifelong learning and professional development to face challenging and emerging needs of our society.

Mathematics Association

The Mathematics Association is a forum for the students to exhibit their academic talents and to develop their leadership skills. After the formal inauguration of the association popular talks and lectures on emerging trends of mathematics by eminent speakers have been conducted. Students are encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate competitive events and Mathematics colloquiums. Educational tours are also organized once every in a year by the association.

Ramanujan Club

The department has Ramanujan club which conducts inter-collegiate event ‘MATROQUIZ’ and an inter-class quiz competition, providing opportunity for students to enrich Mathematical skills and General knowledge.
