LIBRARY

The college library block has opened in the year 1985. Separate building for the Central Library and its total carpet area is 4224.73sqt, which is eco-friendly with peaceful atmosphere. The modern computerized library has more than thirty thousand volumes of books covering various areas of computer science, Life Science, Arts and Management. The documents in the library are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) 19th edition. It has subscriptions of more than hundred National & International Journals. The many English and Tamil Newspapers are also subscribed for the enlightments of both staff and students.

Services

  • Students and staff have open access to books and journals.
  • Internet facility is available with High speed Broad band connection.
  • In the Network Resource Centre Students and Staff members can access the E-Resources (e-journals & e-books) which are subscribed under INFLIBNET& J-Gate.
  • Current information on socio-cultural, environmental, economic and educational events is displayed in the notice board. Clipping services, Bibliographic compilation, printing services etc are provided.
  • Magazines are regularly reviewed by the students.
  • Downloading of free e-books and Journals are allowed.
  • New arrivals are displayed in all the notice board.

Rules and Regulations

  • All the students in the college are the members of the library and can access the books through Open Access System.
  • No one is allowed to sub-lend the books take out by him.
  • All payments including fine towards the library shall be paid at the college office and the receipt must be shown to the librarian.
  • Absolute silence should be observed in the library.
  • Without previous notice, students may call for books which are marked “Reference” or a “Periodical” for consultation which will not be lent out.
  • All Foreign and Indian Journals and Newspapers will be displayed for perusal in the reading room

The computerized catalogue could be assessed in the library and fully automated NIRMALS Software has been installed for the purpose of library automation. We have a Bar-coding facility for Circulation and Gate Entry System. We have a separate Library for MBA Department. The working methodology of library such as acquisition of books, circulation control, and cataloguing and serials control have been automated using integrated software. Open access system is implemented in the library. A modern digital library network with a high-speed internet access is also stored in the premises. Separate sections for Reference, Periodicals, Project Reports and Question banks are provided for easy access.

HOSTEL

Education cannot take its precise shape if life away from classrooms is not healthy and peaceful. And while studying, the student’s life away from classrooms will generally be at hostels or their home. Our institute has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls with state-of-the-art facilities inside the college campus. The College has a hostel named after the Father of the Institutions as “Thanthai Hans Roever Hostel”. It has adequate high security and good discipline. Each room has an attached bathroom. The students who are not staying with the parents shall reside in the college hostel as per college rules. The hostels are located inside the college campus and have a separate hostel office and mess within the hostel premises. The mess has a centralized renovated kitchen and a separate dining hall for boys and girls.

Mess

Mess is run on fixed rate per day basis.

Inmates of the hostel are not allowed to enter the kitchen premises. Complaints and suggestions about food or service must be made to the Deputy warden in a proper manner.

They should conduct themselves decently in the dining hall.

The Managing authorities have the right to terminate the membership of the hostel, for breach of discipline or for any grave offence even in the middle of the academic year.
The following timings shall be observed strictly by the inmates.

Breakfast : 7.30 a.m. to 8.30 a.m
Lunch : 1.00 p.m. to 2.30 p.m
Dinner : 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m

Ragging

Ragging is a serious offence. Any student found guilty of ragging will be dealt very severely even to the extent of expulsion from the college and Hostel.

Study and Silence Hours

The Inmates are asked to adhere the following rules strictly.

Study Hours : 9.00 pm to 10.00 pm
Silence Hour : 10.00 pm to 6.00 am
Lights off : 11.00 pm
Free time : 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm (on week days), 4.30 pm to 10.00 pm (on Sunday)

During silence hour, there must be absolute silence in the hostel and inmates are asked not to sing, switch on the transistor, radio, tape-recorder or play on musical instruments or indoor games.

Guests and Visitors

Guests are not allowed to stay in the hostel at any time. Day Scholars are not permitted to enter the hostel.

HOSTEL

BROAD BAND INTERNET CENTRE

Apart from the computer laboratories setup for syllabus programs the Institutes have provided computer centers for general purposes and learning during extra hours. This includes Internet Facilities available through leased line and Wi-Fi for providing continuous and uninterrupted internet connectivity to students and faculty members. These facilities are also available to students beyond college hours for preparation of seminars & projects and research-orientated work. We have local area wireless technology which allows an electronic device to exchange data or connect to internet using 50mbps in our college campus and in UG and PG hostel.

TRANSPORTATION

The students while traveling in the college bus must behave in a decent manner. They should not create any problem with the driver or cleaner. The buses will stop only at the stage that is fixed by the transport division. The students Co-operation is expected for the smooth functioning of the transport facilities extended towards them.
